What is Grappling Kick-Boxing? kickboxing

We have discontinued our Grappling Kickboxing program as of 9/1/2022, we will continue to incorporate many of the pricipals taught in this program into our Hapkido classes.

Grappling Kick-Boxing is a systematic study of all of the traditional fighting arts, which

together comprise the martial arts of the world. As a martial arts system, Grappling Kick-

Boxing is extremely well-organized; and seeks to integrate and explore the entire spectrum of established fighting arts and body conditioning techniques, as well as mental development training.

Grappling Kick-Boxing is not a sport but a pure martial art system which emphasizes the

application of striking, locking, and throwing techniques in practical, free-flowing fighting situations, rather than the static applications, more in common in traditional styles of Martial Arts.

It also varies from other Martial Arts in that many of its hand techniques are strongly

influenced by Western boxing, and that a significant part of Grappling Kick-Boxing training is in groundwork, applying techniques more akin to judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, than most Martial Arts styles.

In a sense Grappling Kick-Boxing is an attempt to combine the practical, free-flowing

technique application, often seen in mixed martial arts, while still retaining many traditional martial art attributes, such as uniforms, terminology, ranking structure and a curriculum for each belt.

While Grappling Kick-Boxing teaches discipline to always avoid conflict, we train in order to defend, fight and finish on the ground should it become necessary.

As part of our standard curriculum, one will learn all aspects of gaining control from stand-up position to take-downs, gain ground control, and apply submission from the ground.

Our Grappling Kickboxing program focuses the principals of Hapkido on techniques and strategy utilized in MMA, Kickboxing, and ground grappling.
